Today I finished reading The Kite Runner book about a young man's journey out of Afghanistan to America.  A must read!  As I closed the book, which was a story of redemption from regret and guilt, I was overwhelmed with a question concerning my own journey with God. What is my motivation for leading NewYorkIsCalling?  Each of us has those things in our past which, even after being forgiven, remain with us and often become our motivation for doing good. Self-atonement doesn't work. Ever. We get to do good because we are forgiven, rather than having to do good in order to be forgiven, is the essence of Christ's message.  So, on my worst days, I suppose I am trying to do something good to make up for the not-so-good, but on my best days....well, I act like I ought to...regret-free, guilt-free, just FREE to do good.
